Mission

At the South Suburban Land Bank, we specialize in the strategic redevelopment of vacant and abandoned properties.

Through collaborative efforts, we breathe new life into communities, creating vibrant spaces for residents and businesses of the Chicago Southland.

At the South Suburban Land Bank & Development Authority (SSLBDA) our mission is clear: to boost economic vitality in Chicago’s South Suburbs.

We achieve this by acquiring and redeveloping under-utilized properties in collaboration with local governments. Our work reduces vacancy, stabilizes the tax base, and enhances economic opportunity. Every dollar spent by the Land Bank to reactivate vacant property results in an additional $16.70 in economic activity in the communities we serve.

There is more long-term development potential and wealth to be unlocked. As the Land Bank’s formal strategic partner, the Southland Development Authority will work to further the Land Bank’s value proposition that highlights integrity and mission motivation by undertaking more strategic high-impact and large-scale developments that support community goals, showcases the region’s industrial and commercial prowess, and enhances the quality of life.
